McLaren driver Lando Norris accepts there are certain areas he needs to work on but is already targeting Max Verstappen's title in 2025. (More Motorsport News)rolling slots
Norris finished second in the 2024 drivers' championship – 63 points behind champion Verstappen – but helped McLaren to a first constructors' championship since 1998.
The 25-year-old led through the entire 58 laps of Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to help get his team over the line and added over the radio that "next year is going to be my year".
And Norris doubled down on those comments when asked about them by Sky Sports, as he reflected on his best F1 season to date.
"I certainly know I've got a lot of what it takes. There's no doubt about that, and I'm confident in saying that," he said.
"I clearly, and I think this year I proved not everything is where it needs to be, but even since those moments, I feel like I've improved a lot in the last quarter and second half of the year, a huge amount.
"I have confidence in myself, which is not a common thing, and I'm never going to go around screaming that kind of thing.
"But I have confidence that I can fight against Max, and I can fight against Charles [Leclerc] and all these other drivers who are just as capable of winning championships, even Lewis [Hamilton].
"So, I have what it takes. Yes, I need to improve in areas, and certain areas are not up to the level they need to be, and I'm going to work hard over the winter to improve on them, but I'll do that and we'll fight."

Asked about Norris' aim to land both team and individual glory next year, McLaren chief executive Zak Brown said: "He's going to give it all he's got. And given the momentum he's onrolling slots, I wouldn't bet against him."
